Romans 10:9-10 ESV “because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”
As a mom of four, I am constantly amazed by the unique ways the Holy Spirit draws each of my children to Him. Each child connects with a different Bible story, devotional, picture book, or song that resonates deeply in their hearts.
Our oldest couldn’t get over the Good Shepherd, leaving the 99 to find the one lost sheep. God’s extravagant love drew her close to Him.
For our secondborn, the power of Jesus as the “snake crusher” who will defeat sin and Satan gave her confidence in His strength.
During the COVID-19 stay-at-home orders, a Phil Vischer video cemented the truth of reconciliation for our third child. He realized he wanted a right relationship with God, not to be separated by sin.
At the time, these moments didn’t feel extraordinary. It seemed like we were just trying to make faith real through books, videos, and songs, not knowing which one would leave a lasting mark.
For our youngest, music was once a source of pain. Loud drums, guitars, and amplified voices made him cover his ears. When we discovered his sensory processing disorder, the Lord brought us Christ-loving occupational therapists who helped us rewire his brain, transforming music from a trigger into a source of joy.
For nearly a year, our son has told us that Jesus saved him from his sins and that he wanted to be baptized. We didn’t want to rush him at seven years old, but we noticed how God’s work in his life was becoming evident. He asks his Alexa to play “I Ran Out of that Grave” (actually titled “Glorious Day”) by Passion on repeat, singing along with joy and certainty.
As he sings, we see Romans 10:9-10 come to life:
- He confesses Jesus is his Lord.
- He believes in his heart that God raised Jesus from the dead.
- His heart believes, and he is justified.
- With this confession, he is saved.
What used to cause him pain now brings him joy. He sings loudly with the praise team, and if you attend church with us, you’ll see this mom raising her hands and praising right alongside him, tears filling her eyes. What an incredible God we serve, who transforms what once felt like a closed door into the very thing that brings our child closest to Him!
Moms, what about you? How have you seen God move uniquely in your child’s or your own life? Share a moment when a story, song, or small experience left a lasting impression. Let’s celebrate these personal reminders of God’s faithfulness and encourage one another on the faith journey. Your story might be the spark that points someone else to Jesus.
